3 Ways Line Marking is Used
Published On: Thursday, 11 January 2018.
There are many ways that line marking is used in the modern world, line marking was first invented by Edward N. Hines, the chairman of the Wayne County, Michigan, Board of Roads, after watching a leaky milk wagon leave a white trail along a road. Now we use line marking for many different reasons and we have listed a few of them below.
Car park line marking
Car parks at shopping centres are always line marked to prevent cars from becoming damaged and lines tell the driver how much space they have to park in.
If we didn’t have line marking in car parks we would end up with total chaos and our personal safety in danger, imagine car parks without lines! Just thinking about it turns my stomach!
Road, Pedestrian and Cycle road line marking
Road markings are designed to warn drivers of the road rules and keep us on the road, they can also keep cyclist safe if a cyclist lane has been created. Pedestrian line marking is designed to keep pedestrians safe by notifying them on where to walk, stop and wait. If it wasn't for Edward N. Hines watching a leaky milk wagon leave a white trail along a road, we may have never come up with line marking! Thank you, Sir, for saving us!
Lines for sporting facilities
Line marking is used for nearly all sports like soccer, football, basketball and hockey, without the use of line marking in sport there would be total chaos within the game!
As you can see, road marking is extremely versatile and can be used for lots of different reasons that include sporting facilities, vehicles and pedestrians.
